Mind your relations...

... they're important. No, I mean it! I feel disconnected since my internet connection broke down. I even have to use the PC of my boyfriend! *Arg!* I want my PC back! *whine*
Instead of surfing the net I'm doing some stiching. Oh boy. Don't get me wrong, I like cross stiching. It's nice. It's old fashioned. Kinda neat. Oh, and I have time to get some books finished. Nice.
But I do miss my online friends. Some of them I don't even see in RL. So Shar, Valentine, Dommie, Llanowar I miss you guys! I miss chatting and mailing and ICQing. *sniff* I know, I know, pathetic me.
Oh, I promised Llanowar a while ago to post my thoughts on growing up. Well, buddy, here you go, but don't complain, you asked for it!
We all agree growing up isn't easy, right? The problem is you can't decide whether or when to grow up, how fast you want to come of age, and no one asks you if you want to stay a child a little longer. Once you have grown up, you're supposed to act like an adult. Right? As a teenager I often wished to be an adult. Adults wish to be a child. Jeez. "Youth is wasted on the young," they say. And they're right. But you only know that after you have grown up. Blame Mother Nature. Or the Human Mind. Or...
Growing up is controlled by certain events in your life. You don't grow up by growing older. But the longer you live the more events step into your life. There is a lot happening that makes you grow wiser/ older/ more adult/ more mature. These crucial happenings enter your life without warning and it's hard to cope. Sometimes it seems like these events force you to grow up. That's not entirely true.
Nick Hornby brought it to the point. In his book Fever Pitch he states that: "I used to believe, although I don't now, that growing and growing up are analogous, that both are inevitable and uncontrollable processes. Now it seems to me that growing up is governed by the will, that one can choose to become adult, but only at given moments."
You. Can. Choose. Think about it. Especially if you're not already fully grown up. Stop. Think. Choose.
It's your choice. I have already chosen. Not seeing my possibilities at an early age, I grew up too fast, too soon. Now I'm going to pick up the pieces. Because I now see the choice I'm having, the one I didn't see before. You don't have to act like a grown-up. Be true to yourself. Rediscover the child. Go paint, draw, watch a butterfly.
Be yourself no matter what they say. (I know that's Sting. I adore some of his lyrics.)
So, Llanowar, I hope this is what you expected. I wasn't sure where this was heading, call it stream of consciousness. Us yellow people do this kinda thing. Artsy.
One word on football: Who would have thought? Senegal beat France! Way to go. It sure surprised me.
And another test. Couldn't do without it, could you?
My second one was Sailor Moon, which said I was a very expressive person. *snort* Can't deny it. It said "The people you love are the things you value most, and you always want to do what is right."
This was a rather long entry. I hope I'll see you folks around. :)

That is soooo lovely that you thought about it and post your thoughts.
It means a lot to me. Probably more than you can imagine :)
And you are right, damned soo right.
Only through you I'm growing up much slower than before our meet.
And therefore I'm thanking you a thousand times.

She remembers
an absence of blue
billowing down,
playing loose with her,
the impetuous sailor
her mother warned her against
time after time. The light
did not invite her to dance,
nor shine upon her only.
In countless borrowed rooms
she swallowed
its gleaming intimations.
Later, in the dark, she lies
on the bed, recalling
the silvery edge of its breath,
like birch trees in spring.
She sparkles with shame.
