Back home from field trip, exhausted.

Couldn't resist this one, though: from [livejournal.com profile] jb_slasher If you see this, post a poem in your own LJ today.

For Meghan, for the Haiti relief. <3

The stillness of a winter's day, revisited

The silence of an icy, altogether too early
winter's dawn is disrupted by the rustling of the wings of birds,
hundreds of them, swooping from tree to tree in smaller
flocks of twenty.

Shy red wings that don't chatter or chirp,
beady black eyes on me, white feathers like an eyebrow
raised as I pass, some seem to frown, their beaks yellow
in anticipation.

They are all changing trees until I'm inside
looking from behind my living room window, curtains half drawn
as if spying on them, my new feathered and unexpected neighbours,
feasting on red berries,

Brought here by the cold, I briefly think of
climate change, but still turn up the heat.
The coldest winter for thirty years even quiets down
those birds,

and finally me.

Today I'm writing from Luneburg- haven't seen much of the city though. I arrived in the afternoon after a lovely train trip. Well, maybe tomorrow there's more to tell you folks.

Gahfuck, I can't go to the pub at the 13.4. because of a seminar at university. There should be a law against seminars at the weekend. Now I'm going to miss the live music. Jeez. Teachers are mean.

I don't want to rant on for hours here, we're staying at a friends, and I don't want to block his PC for too long.

Here's a nice poetry treat for you as usual... no quizzes today due to a lack of time.

Lost

Lost
is a puzzle
of stars
that breathes
like water
and chews
like stone

Alone
is a reminder
of how far
acceptance
is from
understanding

Fear
is a bird
that believes itself
into extinction

Desperation
the honest recognition
of a false truth

Hope
seeing who you really are
at your highest
is who you will become

Grace
the refinement of a
Soul through time

Words by Jewel. Thank you and good night.

My temperature is back to normal! Yay for me! You can see at the number of my posts how good I feel. ;) When a post is missing I was too ill to leave bed.

Here's a really sweet poem. No, not one of those heavy bunny inducing things, those I save for my stories ;)
I like it nevertheless. Sometimes not heavy bunny inducing is better. I have to get back to health first. Then my bunnies.
Here you go!

Someone to know me

At first it seemed shocking
but now the idea
tickles my tongue.
and intrigues my curiosity
beyond the ability
to rationalize or resist:

I want to live with you!

I want to wake
each morning
in your arms

comforted by your oddness

seduced by your knowledge
of my ways.

I want to care for you

brush your hair
put lotion on your scars

and pet you at bedtime,
watching your eyes close slow
like a child's
heavy with the thousand things
that filled your day.

All applause be kindly directed once again to Jewel. Thanks.

For all you crazy love birds out there- I'm skimming through my poetry books again.
Here's one of my all time favorites... it's very sad, very wise...

For all of you who have loved- and for all of you who were ever unsure of themselves...
(besides, poems like that give me bunnies- LOTS of bunnies ^_^)
It's by Jewel

I Guess What I Wanted Was

I guess what I
wanted was
to hear

you'd stay with me always.

I guess what I
wanted was
to see

Those hands vowing
never to leave my own.

I guess what I
wanted was
to know

I am not loving in vain.

Communion

my flesh melts
on your tongue

my breast dissolves
beneath your desire

my ears turn to wind;

roots reclaim my veins.

My stomach disappears
with its lunar twin

water taking my will until

I am reduced to a glimmer

boiled down to a spark

sifted into tiny stone

that has many wings
nesting inside your palm.
