Those pics of Jake slogging through the flood must have been the inspiration for the Wet!Jake spread in, was it Entertainment Weekly? I think that was the mag with one of the gay-porniest photos: the one where wet Jake is on all fours with his mouth hanging open and an arc of water beads in the air near his face.

Hee - Dustin Hoffman has been around Hollywood long enough to see male pulchritude when he sees it =).

After we discussed his poses I found so many "gay-porn-pose" pictures in my folder. Though I don't have the one you were referring too... I can't get the EW here, and couldn't find more then two pictures from their spread.

There are some that look barely legal. I don't know of you know the Henny Garfunkel shot; Jake looks so young in the pics, yet he's posed on a bed with that look in his eyes.

As you said before: the world needs more Jakeporn, especially when there are so many pics screaming porn.

I looked around at jakegyllenhaalfan.com, and couldn't find the one I thought I'd remembered, so maybe my fevered imagination just extrapolated it from the one you mention. They had the mesh shirt wet!Jake as part of a shoot for Interview. Though there could be some mistakes. I saw that a great butt shot was missing from a Teen People layout they'd scanned (I will try to find that one tomorrow).

I haven't found the one I'm talking about yet. But here's a link to a site with scans from the shoot he did for US Vogue (it's jakegyllenhaalfan.com, so you may well already have it). But if you look at number 5 and 8, where he's with a horse instead of a girl, there are some gay porn elements: the scowl, the black clothes, the shiny paramilitary boots instead of rustic cowboy boots. I recall thinking, usually if a photo like that were done to appeal to women, he'd have a friendlier expression, and more soft fabrics, eg, weathered chambray/denim, worn suede/distressed leather. As it is, the look comes off more ad-for-a-gay-leather-club than romantic dashing horseman (not that I'm complaining ;-).

I just got the link off a msg board, so I certainly have no problem with you leaving it up. My feeling about the property rights of these things is, scans are just scans, anyone could have done it, they get reposted all over the internet, and the only people who can really claim ownership are the original publishers, who would certainly turn me down if I asked for permission, but who must know they are available on jakegyllenhaalfan.com, etc.

Whereas icons, fanart, etc, where someone has actually done something to the scanned material, I think of as something that has an "owner" somewhere in the fandom, whose permission I would seek.

I remember my surprised reaction when I first noticed the amount of slashable goodness in manga and anime. Even if the story doesn't center around a m/m relationship, there were hints and subplots everywhere! 98% of all such stories were written by women for women, and talking about pictures of Jake (or actors in general) reminded me of that. Even though the pictures don't seem to have women as they're target group, they do appeal to a lot of women I know. Maybe it's just the slasher community though. I know I'm just waiting for an excuse to slash Jake whenever possible (even though I hardly write anything down these days...).

I wonder how much the visibility of the slasher community online has changed the perceptions of the people who do layouts for fashmags, to make them aware of the many women who would like to see more m/m goodness. I bet it's more popular than they thought.

I recall reading, back when I was in XF fandom, how much David Duchovny's wife, Tea Leoni, enjoyed the season 5 kiss Krycek gave Mulder. There was an interview where she told the reporter, when she heard of it coming up, her response was, "Yes! Do it! Do it!"

I've not seen anything by Henny Garfunkel. But I thought of an AU explanation for some of the these shots; Heath likes to take pictures of Jake sprawled around, looking fuckable.

I can imagine Heath visiting Jake's hotel room after their workday is done. He picks up one of these mags, which Jake's publicity person has sent up to keep Jake posted on the press he's getting. He can't help teasing Jake about the gay-porny looks.

"You ain't seen nothin' yet," laughs Jake, striking a seductive pose.

Heath runs back to his room to grab his camera. Once he returns, they have their own little photo shoot. Jake puts on a show for Heath until Heath can no longer keep his hands off. ;-)
