I wonder how much the visibility of the slasher community online has changed the perceptions of the people who do layouts for fashmags, to make them aware of the many women who would like to see more m/m goodness. I bet it's more popular than they thought.
I recall reading, back when I was in XF fandom, how much David Duchovny's wife, Tea Leoni, enjoyed the season 5 kiss Krycek gave Mulder. There was an interview where she told the reporter, when she heard of it coming up, her response was, "Yes! Do it! Do it!"
I've not seen anything by Henny Garfunkel. But I thought of an AU explanation for some of the these shots; Heath likes to take pictures of Jake sprawled around, looking fuckable.
I can imagine Heath visiting Jake's hotel room after their workday is done. He picks up one of these mags, which Jake's publicity person has sent up to keep Jake posted on the press he's getting. He can't help teasing Jake about the gay-porny looks.
"You ain't seen nothin' yet," laughs Jake, striking a seductive pose.
Heath runs back to his room to grab his camera. Once he returns, they have their own little photo shoot. Jake puts on a show for Heath until Heath can no longer keep his hands off. ;-)
